Psycho | Wenrene

"What's wrong with you?! I don't know what to do with you anymore!" Irene enraged, voice echoed the entire room.

"What? In case you forgot, you're the one who started this." Wendy retorted back in the same manner.

"For god sake! Seungwan I'm your girlfriend! And a girlfriend does not want to witness any form of betrayal from their partner! You should have known that before you even agreed to start this relationship with me!"

Both Wendy and Irene came back from their schedule, they were both chosen to do an MC job with Eric Nam as special guests in a music show. Once the main door swung open from their dorm, Irene immediately exploded and thrown Wendy all the grudge she held back during the show as she noticed the unbearable closeness of the two.

"Betrayal?! Do you hear yourself? I told you, oppa was just being friendly because it's been long since our song collaboration and today we meet again! I've explained that to you earlier right? You nodded okay, so what are you complaining now? You're giving me a headache." Wendy ranted as she stomped her way to settle on the sofa.

"Friendly?" Irene snorted. "You call that friendly? When his face was like all over you the entire time? That's stupid of you to even call that friendly!" The older woman stood firmly in front of the sitting female on the sofa, her hands on her waist and eyes shooting daggers. If looks could kill then Wendy must have been dead by now.

"I'm so tired of you and your jealousy! You're becoming unreasonable! I'm losing my mind every time you're being like this!" Wendy's veins on her neck went visible as she expressed her extreme emotions. She's radiating the same anger as the latter.

"So, you're tired of me?!" Irene scoffed as if not believing what she's hearing. She should be the one telling that to her and not the other way around, she thought. "Then the feeling is mutual! I can't believe I dated an asshole like you! I should have known better! I deserved better than you, better than this rotting relationship!" She added while raising her right hand ready to slap the other. But before the hit could land on Wendy's face, she stopped right away. Despite the intensity of her anger and spur of venomous words, she could not bring herself to hurt the other at all. Her eyes shed tears while glaring at Wendy who's left agape to her choice of words and action.

"So you want to hurt me physically now? Then go ahead!" She stood up and harshly grabbed Irene's hand and helped her to do what the latter had intended to. Wendy started hitting herself with the use of Irene's hand. "I can't believe you're saying that now as if I forced you in this relationship with me! Yeah maybe you're right! You should have chosen your other suitors instead of me in the first place! Your suitors who are rich, famous, better looking and more importantly.. are all men! Who knows? They might have longer patience than mine!" Wendy was trying to keep a strong front but the latter's words were too damaging for her to handle. She then painfully looked at Irene who's struggling to retrieve her hand from hitting her. Wendy immediately stopped, shoved Irene lightly and walked away to her bedroom.

Irene's legs weakened after that and dropped on the floor. She cried heavily with her palms shaking covering her face.

"Whoah! Whoah! Seungwan, what's happening. Why are you guys so loud?!" Seulgi asked the moment she bumped to Wendy in the hallway. The blonde didn't dare to look at her and went straight to her room. She slammed the door closed expressing the greatness of her pain.

Seulgi did not pry anymore once she saw Irene on the carpeted floor in the living room. She hurriedly went to her side and helped her to move on the sofa. Seulgi quickly understood the situation. She knew that this was yet another fight between the couple, just like the previous days. The first time they heard and witnessed the lovers' quarrel, Seulgi, Joy and Yeri weren't able to speak normally. Their faces shows immense  worry for the couple. The 3 loved and supported the relationship and they could only wish for their long lasting happiness. However, they noticed how the couple's fights were becoming frequent which ignites their worry and fear that anytime they would see the two fall apart. As much as they wanted to help them resolve things, they just couldn't do so for they respect both person's privacy and decision over their own relationship. They could only pray for the betterment of the couple.

"Unnie, it's okay. Whatever happened, I know both of you will resolve this together. You guys just needed to cool down." Seulgi comforted Irene who's still non stop bawling. Joy and Yerim went out of their rooms as well to learn what's happening but halted and remain on the side as Seulgi eyed them and shook her head.

The next day, the group were scheduled to do a guesting for a variety show. Seulgi thought this type of work was untimely because of the couple who are refusing to talk or even look at each other. Joy and Yeri tried their best to brighten up the mood and Seulgi did the same knowing that they cannot do anything about them. Luckily, both Wendy and Irene know how to set aside their personal problems and work professionally. But that doesn't mean every words thrown last night were forgotten.

It was during their break the tension was raised yet again, when EXO's Suho who happened to be included in the guests of the variety show spoke to the members at their waiting room. He seemed to be smiley to all but the attention he's giving was obviously more for Irene. Wendy wanted to just ignore, however knowing Suho was one of those suitors of Irene before made it hard for her to do so. Especially after Irene blurted that she should have chosen better than her. It really made Wendy's insecurities resurface, it felt like there was an open wound inside her heart. Even if Irene did not meant her words, the damage has already been done.

Irene was casual though, despite Suho being a natural flirt to her, she didn't linger her gaze and smile towards him or do any actions that would leave the guy hopeful. She was cautious of her actions and Wendy was able to catch her glances towards her as if showing discomfort.

Wendy does not know if that discomfort was caused by Suho's presence or hers. But considering their fight last night, maybe it was her after all. Wendy wasn't even sure if Irene and her are still together so she felt like she lost the right to move to Irene's side and take her attention away from anyone. The last thought prompts her to politely excuse herself and went outside the room to give them space.

"Seungwan."

Wendy stopped from walking in the hallway when she heard her call her name. Irene's voice was back to being soft and lovely to Wendy's ears. She turned around to meet her gaze.

"Hey." She smiled but she couldn't bring to wear the one displaying from ear to ear.

"Can we talk?" Irene said softly as if testing the waters.

"Sure." Wendy gave in thinking that this could be their chance to clear whatever that is left between them. "Let's go to an empty waiting room." She started walking again with Irene behind her.

On the other room, Wendy slumped comfortably on the sofa. She could feel the heaviness of eyes as well as the weariness of her body. She wasn't able to sleep well last night, thanks to Irene.

"You okay?" Irene asked as she occupied the sofa in front of the tired Wendy.

"Yeah, just a bit sleepy."

Irene could tell, Wendy was obvious how she's having a hard time to stay awake now. She was always an early sleeper and she knew very well that their fight caused her the lack of energy.

"We still have an hour break, do you want to take a nap first?"

"No, I'm good. So what are we gonna talk about?" Wendy no longer beat around the bush and went straight at it.

Before Irene could talk, she sighed deeply. "About last night... I'm sorry. I was carried away by my jealousy and anger that I spit out words that shouldn't have said. I hope you didn't take it seriously." 

Wendy remained silent and looked anywhere else but the girl in front. Irene took this as cue to talk more and explain her side. 

"I really didn't know what I was saying and it all dawned to me how stupid it was to say those things just to hurt you back. I know it was childish but I was really hurt too and afraid that you'll be taken away from me." She was fighting back the tears by blinking many times. "I'm really sorry, Seungwan. Please say something." 

The silence was torturing Irene, she's nervous how Wendy took her harsh words last night and she's afraid everything would end right then and there. 

"We've been fighting a lot lately and I'm contemplating where the problem is coming from." Wendy started. Their eyes finally met. "After what you said last night, I realized that maybe the reason was you never wanted to be with me in the first place... that everything was just a mistake for you." Wendy's lips quiver, the pain in her chest arising yet again.

"No. That's not true, Seungwan. I love you so much, way too much that I cannot imagine a life without you. I haven't felt this way to anyone and I know I'll never will if it isn't you." Irene's eyes started pouring tears as she approached Wendy on the other side of the sofa. Clasping both of her hands with hers, she continued. "Believe me, there's no one out there I would choose than you. You're all that I needed and wanted." She embraced Wendy tightly as if her life depended on her. 

"B-but.." 

"Please Seungwan, forgive me." Irene struggling to talk as she's crying too much, it took all her energy to embrace Wendy even tighter causing the latter to cough.

"I-Irene, I can't breathe." She tapped the girl's back.

"S-sorry." Irene then loosen her embrace but still didn't let go.

"You should know how much I love you too, Joohyun. Maybe more than you'll ever know. And I will not do something that would hurt you, I will never betray you. Eric oppa was just a friend, a co-worker from before. That's all there is." Wendy explained gaining a nod from the other female.

"I know. I'm sorry." 

"It just hurts me when you're doubting my loyalty to you." Wendy finally breakdown and cried. 

Irene panicked at the situation. She immediately crawled on Wendy's lap, legs wrapped around her waist and resettling her embrace upfront. She rubbed the back of Wendy, trying to calm her and her head lays on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, Seungwan. Just please give me another chance. Don't leave me." 

"But no matter how painful it is lately, I still choose to be with you and I still do after what happened. Because I just love you way too much." Wendy managed to say despite the difficulty. She nestled her face to Irene's neck as if smelling her scent up close would give her strength. "Ain't it weird to feel this way?" 

"It probably is weird but I feel the same way as you do. It makes me go crazy for you." Irene confessed outright. 

"Well I'm all yours, Joohyun. That's why we're together right? Are we still together though?" 

Irene pulled away to face Wendy. Both eyes reflecting each other's doubt and sorrow. 

"D-do you not want to be together with me anymore?" Irene had to ask while her heart was pounding so hard from her chest. She knows to herself that she will never be able to move on from her, but she had to respect Wendy's decisions too. So she just silently prayed and hoped that Wendy would not choose to break her heart even more.

Wendy didn't think twice, she caressed Irene's face and pull her in for a passionate kiss. The latter kissed back with the same amount of hunger. They shared a kiss as if it was their first and last. No words needed to come out from their mouth anymore to say how madly in love they are still for each other. They understood that they have chosen to stay together no matter what consequences there will be. Be it another fight or whatever else, they will accept suffering through the bad times together than to be apart.

"Seriously, you unnies are so strange." Joy giving a 'I don't get these two' vibe while she's looking at Wendy and Irene who are currently gawking at each other. The smile on their faces were unbreakable.


"...and foolish" Yeri added shortly shaking her head in disbelief.


"But they are cute though." Seulgi said in contrary of the negative teasing remarks from the maknae line.


Wendy and Irene just laughed at them, still cuddling. "You girls are so funny. One day you'll understand us." The eldest shrugged.


Both Joy and Yeri exchanged looks before they united in making a gagging sound.


"Ew. Never." Joy said playfully.


They all shared another round of laughter. Everyone seemed bright whenever the couple is also in their happy moments.


"It's disturbing though. Both of you always fight like it was your last and then hug each other the next day as if nothing really happened. How is that even possible?" Seulgi asked so innocently that finally gained a serious attention from the couple. But before Wendy and Irene could respond, the youngest members dealt with her.


"Well... it's obvious they just like each other way too much that they can't stay angry with each other for too long." Yeri said as a matter of fact.


"They are control freaks, they just wanted to control each other so they need to make up right away." Joy said rolling her eyes.


"Yah! You two, can you all stop?" Wendy retaliated, she need this topic to end or else she'll die out of embarrassment. Irene could only gaze at her lovingly, amused over the reaction her lover is giving.


"I still don't get it though." Seulgi stated while she slowly trying to understand what had been said.


"You don't need to worry about us, Seul. It's alright if we fight each other, it's normal for any couple. In the end, we'll be okay as long as we love each other." Irene finally spoke, reassuring the still confused girl.


"That's not normal, unnie. If I were you two, I--" Joy was interrupted by Irene's glare, enough for her to shut up.


Then their manager, lyricist and music producer joined inside the conference room, saving Joy's life from a threatening Irene. They all gathered because SM's upper management had scheduled their comeback in 2 months so they have to rush and start brainstorming for a concept.


"So what are you guys talking about?" Their manager asked, curious why everyone was so vibrant. By that time, Wendy and Irene separated in a space enough to make each other breathe like normal friends do. It was only the members who knew about their relationship after all.


"Nothing. We're just discussing for possible lyrics on our latest song." Irene professionally dodge the previous topic by using her leader position. Wendy could only smile proudly.


"Well, our concept will be around the Velvet theme so we need something lush and you know kind of bit dark. So, what were your ideas you said?" The music producer asked.


The members talked with their eyes knowingly. Garnering enough signs how to properly respond to that inquiry. They were surprised that it was Seulgi who spoke first.


"What do you call a person that stays in a relationship even if it was already toxic?" Seulgi asked leaving the girls wide eyed. They forgot that Seulgi is the type of person that does not understand hidden messages by looking at each others' eyes. Damn.


"Uhh...hmm..." The music producer was taken aback with that, contemplates and finally considered the idea behind that question. "That's interesting." He said.


"That can be categorized as something dark, which is quite nice for a concept of Velvet huh?" The lyricist joined in, she thought they begun brainstorming when in fact Seulgi was just asking out of confusion from the members' conversation earlier. Seulgi haven't moved on from that yet.


"Ain't that person psychotic?" Their manager finally answered Seulgi's question which Irene and Wendy almost choked.


"That's it! That's brilliant! Why don't we call the song Psycho for short?" The music producer excitedly announced as if he hit a jackpot.


"But that's majestic right? I mean, staying inside a relationship like that. It's beautiful and sad at the same time." The lyricist was left awestruck.


"Exactly my point, kids nowadays are like that. Too stubborn to let go. I think this song will be a hit because everyone could relate." The music producer explained, still impressed.


Seulgi just nodded, Wendy and Irene both flushed while Joy & Yeri looked at each other knowingly then smiled from ear to ear. They were fast to make evil plans.


"How about the lyrics?" The lyricist asked.


"Consider it done, unnie!" Yeri said boasted, grinning.


"We got a lot of ideas. We're just gonna sort the words from our conversation with the members earlier." Joy then winked at the  lovers.


Wendy looked like someone stole her soul while Irene is displaying her poker face but deep inside she has a burning desire to skin Joy and Yeri alive.


And from there they created their hit song, Psycho, all thanks to Seulgi.
