After looking at her photos the second time, she closed the magazine and placed it on the center table. She sighed deeply and contemplated on the description written for each featured celebs, mainly on the talent portion. She didn't really dwell on how the writers describe their facial beauty at all, it was already given. Therefore she looked at how they defined their talents. For other celebs, if she'll summarize, they were described as 'born to be singers with high or wide vocal ranges', 'great actresses full of emotions', or a combination like 'a singer with unexpected talent in acting', 'exceptional dancing queens', etc.
Irene felt a slight insecurity inside her when she was reading hers. Those other featured celebs were like leading the kpop and kdrama as of today. She feels like that they were really fitting to be featured, truly beauties with outstanding talents.
'The leader of a top girl group red velvet with sweet voice, rap skills and graceful dances.' Those were the words defined her. There were more explanation, but this phrase summarizes it all. At first, Irene was satisfied and thankful for it but she became inconfident as she started comparing herself to the other featured artists. Was she deserving to be featured along with them? Or was she featured only because Red Velvet is one of the top girl right now? Those negative thoughts engulfing her, forgetting her own set of skills.
"Oh it's already out?" A voice startled her a bit ending her train of thoughts. She looked up too meet a pair of curious eyes with a smile on her face.
"Yes." Irene replied shortly.
"Wow. Joohyun unnie, you're the best! Wow! You're so deserving to be with these line up." Her companion joyfully stated as she accommodated the space beside her on the sofa.
"Do you think so, Seungwan?" Irene said with a poker face, naturally hiding the emotions she's feeling right now.
Wendy looked at her, with a reassuring smile. "Of course. Out of all the featured artists here you're the best, unnie."
Irene could only return the smile, but it wasn't a genuine one. "Thanks."
Silence shortly welcomed again as Wendy browsed the magazine.
"But you know as I read the description each artists, yours is quite not on point."
With those words, the negative thoughts that ravaging her mind slowly showing to her face. She maybe right for thinking that she was not fitted for being featured because she's lacking in terms of talent.
"I know, right?" She said with a low tone thinking that perhaps those praises were really just meant to make people believe she's worth to be highlighted on the magazine.
"Yeah. It's confusing they should elaborate more in describing you. They aren't near my impression of you." Wendy yet again caught Irene's attention, slightly forgetting her thoughts.
Irene became curious what Wendy thought of her, so she asked. "If you were the writer, what would you put there?"
Wendy looked at her still all smiles. "Well on the beauty description, I'll say that your eyes are like a deer's, eyes are like stars, you have a high nose and your mouth forms a v line whenever you smile. People cannot look into your eyes for too long or else they will fall in love with you. You're really really pretty, Joohyun unnie."
A genuine happy smile graced Irene's face as she listen to Wendy describe her. Her face heated and forming a tint of red out of the other's greasiness. But knowing Wendy, she knows she's just telling what was really truly in her mind and heart. Irene's feelings were slowly hovered by her heart racing, her insecurities being tossed away one by one.
"And for the talent area. It should be 'has a voice that melts everyone who listens. Has a perfect harmonization skill that blends Red Velvet really well. A rapping skills that gets everyone excited and has an exceptional dancing skills. Truly a tambourine dancing, sexy fairy.' Woooo!!" Wendy said as she reminisces Irene's hot solo dance from their La Rouge tour.
Irene squealed in laughter. She was genuinely happy by what she heard and how Wendy describes her even with hand gestures to make her point. There were no pretense in her voice, just pure adoration coming out from Wendy's mouth. And Irene could feel the authenticity Wendy is giving.
"You finally laughed." Wendy said excitedly as she pull Irene in a warm embrace.
"It's because you're so funny. Your words are like of elementary and is like a child describing their hero. Don't you think so?" Irene couldn't contain her laughter as she snuggle towards Wendy's arms.
"Aren't I cute, Joohyun unnie?" She kissed the cheek of Irene and sniffed her enticing smell.
"You're so cute. I love you." Irene pulled away and gazed lovingly to Wendy. Smile still visible in her features.
Wendy kissed her lips slightly before she talked again. "Unnie, you have to be confident in yourself. And believe me when I say that you're the best woman of this generation." She smiled widely.
Yet another round of hearty laughter was produced by Irene. Wendy knew her very well, it's hard to hide away her emotions to her. Since they have been together for 4 years now, Irene was sure that Wendy could read her like an open book. She knows her happiness and she knows all her worries.
"You are very talented, more than you'll ever know. You're more than just a pretty face."
"Thank you, Seungwan. I love you so much." Irene said with tears forming her eyes, grateful towards the love of her life for knowing her so well.
"I love you too, Joohyun unnie. I'm so proud of you."
All negative thoughts forgotten, confidence boosted as she knows that there will always be a Son Seungwan who truly believes in her and truly loves her no matter what.
