One Thing Right Chapter 7 | Wenrene

One Thing Right

Chapter 7

"Friends Worth Keeping"

"I'm pregnant." Irene confessed. Those words came out painfully. When she learned about her PT got positive once, she did it several times again the following days as she couldn't believe her eyes. Her hands were shaking and she didn't know if she should react positively or negatively about it. While processing everything, the first thing that came to her concern was the father of the baby.

A baby is a blessing, isn't it? Any woman who's at the right age would feel the same, right? Despite not planned, Irene believed that she still wanted it. The outcome of their love.

Irene always dreamed of fairy tail stories with happy endings. Despite the world being cruel in the beginning, a prince will come and save her from it all.

She have loved and got hurt multiple times but it didn't stopped her from dreaming and loving, because she believed it was part of the journey to find that one prince. The one for her.

But why all of a sudden she felt like the father of her baby was just part of that journey? Another failure? She loves him, Irene was sure of it. Does he love her back? Irene wanted to trust in him, since the beginning of their relationship, but why... for some odd reason, she found herself afraid to disclose this news to him.

Why all of a sudden, the future with him seemed so unclear. He was his prince, right? He will accept this, right? They are on this together. They should be, they are the parents of this baby after all.

"Irene, we're in the heights of our career. I'm becoming more popular, having lots of modelling and acting projects. And you,you have your own fame to think about as well. We can't do this!"

Irene heard these words the first time from him but why does it feels like she had already known this from the start? This answer from him was already repeatedly visting her thoughts even in her dreams. She shrugged it off, crying and still hoped it wouldn't be her reality. It wouldn't happen... and yet this...

No matter how many times and days she already spent crying over this news, her eyes still seemed like they're not gonna stop for a long time pouring these tears of sadness and pain.

Despite having the expectation that it would turn out like this, accepting it cannot be easily done. This reality surely is ten times painful and even harder to accept than in just her thoughts. Irene wanted to contain herself and do not cause any trouble to her surroundings, to him, to their career, but she still bursted out crying.

"So what are you suggesting?" Irene weakly replied.

"Do abortion. I'll take care of the costs." He said it so easily that made Irene's world crumble down. How could he say all these words so easily? Like there's no life on the line? It was their baby.

"I thought you love me?" Irene has to ask this. She wanted to hear those words again from his mouth despite knowing this outcome.

"I love you, you know that. But it's just you. I didn't ask for... for..." She looked at him struggling for his words. Does he detest this so much that he can't even call it his...

"Your baby?" Irene finished it for him.

"Yeah. The baby."

"It's yours!" She shouted finally, she can't do this. It's so painful that she's already having a hard time to breathe. How can he be like this to her? To their baby? They've made love to each other multiple times, and no one detested it like this. No one from them complained about it, so why react this way now?

"Don't do this, Irene. I'm not ready for this."

"But you said you love me?"

"Yes."

"Then why can't you accept this outcome? Don't you want to have a family with me? Our own?"

"I.. I want it.. but... it's not the right time. Please understand." He then grasped both of Irene's hands desperately. "I won't leave you, we will go through this together. Just abort it and we'll make a family in the future."

~SLAP!!!

"Do you really think I can do something inhumane? How can you order me to do that as if it's some sort of animal that you could abandon anywhere, anytime? I can't believe you will be the father of my baby! If I knew you'd be like this... I should've not..."  Her words trailed off, still can't bring to detest him fully and regret what they have shared. So she just stood up immediately and walked out from him.

'Wait, Irene. We're not done talking yet!" He calls out but Irene didn't look back.

--

"Hey Irene, you okay?" Seulgi called out to her for the third time. It was still raining outside and they're currently in a restaurant waiting for their orders. This place was just on the ground floor of their apartment.

"I'm fine." She responded shortly and she looked at anywhere but her friend's eyes.

Of course, Seulgi doesn't believe her. With that sulking face and teary eyes? There's no way.

"Here. I know you're fine, but could you wipe your tears?"

Irene looked at the tissue and finally at Seulgi's face. She was smiling yet her eyes were full of concern, she looked really odd that made Irene laugh weakly at her funny antics.

"That's the Bae Irene, I know."

"Sorry. It's just that memories are such a pain and this rain is giving me bad vibes." Irene finally confessed as she wipes her eyes.

"Not all memories are painful, Irene. We'll create and find more happy memories so the bad ones won't resurface again, okay?" Seulgi smiled at her genuinely this time. Thank goodness there was Seulgi in her life. She make things lighter for her and with just one smile, she calms all the time.

"Thanks."

"Don't worry too much and focus on yourself and the baby, okay? Everything will be okay in the end, I believe in John Lennon."

They shared another round of laughter. Irene is really fond of this Seulgi voicing out her innocent remarks, she find it really funny. But of course, she knew all too well that Seulgi's trying really hard to make her feelings lighter. This fun only got interrupted when her friend's eyes wander outside the restaurant.

"Hey, isn't that Wendy? And who's the tall one with her?"

Irene didn't bother to turn around when she knew who it already was. "It's her cousin."

"Oh. When did you grew eyes on the back of your head?"

Irene just rolled her eyes.

"How come you knew?"

"I've met her a week ago when I asked help from Wendy."

"Oh. She's cute."

Irene raised her eyebrow at her response. "What?"

"Why? She's pretty and tall too. I'd say she'll fit as a model like you. Why don't you scout her? You might get commission."

"Very funny." Irene finally turned around to look at Joy outside through the window pane. Surely, she was a real beauty with the dress she's wearing and her well done make up. She nodded in agreement with Seulgi at that.

"Hey, you met her first but she's mine! Go get someone else as your target okay?" Seulgi giggled.

"I didn't know you swing that way, but hey I won't judge. We're still friends and no, she's all yours." She responded riding along her joke.

"You can have Wendy." Seulgi grinned and Irene shifted her gaze from Joy to Wendy. She admits that she's really cute too, attractive even. She roamed her eyes on Wendy but immediately turned around when their eyes met once. Irene blushed furiously as she can't believe she was checking on her.

"Oh! They are leaving." Seulgi said sadly and Irene can't help but feel regret.

Seulgi was so happy when she found a friend in their neighbor, but it seemed like after she got back from their team building, Wendy tried her best to avoid them. And with that, she felt responsible. The girl might have feared to get in touch with them considering how much Seulgi took advantage of her by asking for many favors when they just met. And of course she's aware that it might be because she didn't treat her right till the end as well. It's been a week since then, and there had been no interaction between them.

Irene honestly thought that she'll be happy with Wendy gone around them, but she wasn't. She wanted to just shrug it off but there's something about Wendy now that pulls her towards her. Maybe because she wasn't able to say thanks and sorry or even just a goodbye to her that Friday night. Also maybe because her friend Seulgi over here seemed really affected.

--

"Unnie! Why are we running?" Joy struggled. She was dragged by Wendy by the hand.

"I saw evil spirits, we must get away from them. Just keep going!"

"Them? Who?" Joy was not able to see the other two so she remained clueless whatever the hell Wendy saw.

They got inside the lobby and now waiting for the elevator. They're both catching up their breath.

"What was that all about?! I've never ran that fast in my life!"

"Sorry Joy! I just want to have peace for now, well..I mean I'm already dealing with a mess like you and that's enough for me, so..."

"Yah! Stop saying that! I know you're happy to see me everytime. Remember that you chose that 2 bedroom unit just to accommodate me whenever I visit?" Joy said with a smug look on her face.

"Tch. Let's go, the elevator's here." Wendy will never admit.

Since the Son family were living in Canada, Joy and Wendy never got to meet when they were children. They only got acquainted when Joy visited her father who happened to be the head chef in one of Son's restaurants in Seoul. That time, both of the Son daughters were being toured by their family businesses. Wendy being friendly as she was back then, managed to befriend a shy Joy. They both have different personalities but they both managed to create a great relationship as cousins, and they nurture it by constant communication and by spending time with each other every now and then. They both consider each other as a close family and as each other's best friend. Even if they have known each other much later in their lives, they were just thankful that they both did.

When Wendy came back from Canada, Joy was present to welcome her. Even if Joy resides in Jeju, she still came to the Incheon airport and stayed by Wendy's side up until she found a place to stay in. Wendy and Joy both have been part of each other's life from the decisions they make, their happiness and their deepest worries. There were no secrets between the two of them. Despite being younger than Wendy, Joy has this mature side of her that helped Wendy out during her darkest times. Both Joy and Wendy knew how their brains were wired differently, they both accepted it, and that's why Joy constantly visits her to check if Wendy was 'really' alright as what she always says through phone.

"Was it Irene that you have seen earlier?" Joy asked when they finally got out of the elevator. She noticed how Wendy flinched at the mention of the name.

Wendy sighed. "I'm not a bad person, Joy. I just really wanted to stay away from them right now. I'm not in right condition to think about someone else."

"I didn't say you were bad and I understand where you're coming from but... having new friends sounds fun." Joy tried.

"For you, not for me."

Joy pouted. By this time, she already learned how Wendy got to meet her idol Irene. Wendy didn't reveal the confidential information though. Joy still didn't know about Irene being pregnant, she just know that her neighbor Seulgi entrusted Irene to her since she'll be gone for a week and that Irene was sick. She also got to know about that intense exchange of words between Wendy and Irene.

"Why don't you befriend her? If you really wanted it? You're a fan of hers, right?" Wendy said as she successfully opened her unit door. "I'm not going to stop you on that, of course. Just make sure to leave me out of it."

Joy threw her body on the comforts of the sofa while Wendy went straight to the fridge to get some water. She realized Joy ordered too much sugar on her milk tea earlier.

"I'm a fan of her but I don't think it's appropriate to befriend her just because she was a neighbor of my cousin. And.. knowing that you two have no good relationship to begin with. I'm fine for now with her signature and a photo of her." She browsed her phone while she was lying on the sofa.

Wendy sighed for the nth time and Joy didn't like it. She hated it because she knew how Wendy's starting to wander off again from the world to her inner thoughts. She has to do something to prevent it. Something.

"AHHHH!!!!" Joy screamed at the top of her lungs and Wendy almost dropped the glass of water from her hands and ran towards her.

"What happened?!!" Horror was shown on her face but regretted it immediately when she saw a smirk on Joy's face.

"My boyfriend texted me." She grinned crazily only for Wendy shake her head in dismay.

"Gosh, Joy! You almost gave me a heart attack! I swear I'm gonna kick you out from here if you repeat that again." From then onwards, Wendy didn't stop talking as she nonstop scolded Joy.

"Hihihi. Sorry!" Mission successful.

The next day...

"Joooy! You said you'll help me out if I make you some cupcakes?! Why are you watching TV the entire time?!" Wendy shouted from the kitchen counter. It was only easy for Wendy to see what the other was doing since the living/dining area is only divided by a breakfast nook.

"You know I'll only create mess if I go there. Trust me, you'll be fine. Go create lots of it, I'm going to give some of it to someone." Joy shouted back.

"What? Who? Sungjae's coming?'

"Nope."

"Then who?"

--

"Oh! Wendy's cousin!!!" Seulgi smiled brighter than the sunshine as she opened the door.

"C-cupcakes?!" Joy stammered. It was only her first time to meet Seulgi in flesh. She didn't expect her to be the one to greet her when she knocked on their door. Right, today is Saturday so...

"For me?!

"Uhm yeah.. and for..."

"Irene? IREEEEEENE!!!" Seulgi asked Joy and suddenly shouted Irene's name to her behind.

"Is Irene deaf or what?!" Joy wondered out loud and she realized this after the words came out already. And when Seulgi was already laughing at her.

"Irene's already old, so.."

"Who are you calling old?!" Irene appeared behind her with a threatening look. "Who's our guest?" When she looked at the one in front of Seulgi, her voice became shy. "Oh. Hello."

"Hi idol! Wendy unnie baked both of you some cupcakes!" She announced but Wendy didn't know anything about this.

One Thing Right

Chapter 6

"Rain"

Irene finished doing the dishes and went back to the living room, only to discover that Wendy was nowhere to be found. She had the courtesy to leave some note though, saying thank you for the food and that was that. Irene can't help but feel slightly annoyed at the action. She did ask her to wait for her here and yet she didn't obey. Irene sneered at the idea that Wendy would really stay just because she says so, especially how rude she treated her previously. Who would want to stay by her side after that? She sighed. She took the note, crampled it and shoot in the bin. There's no point in wasting time in feeling regret over someone she barely knew. Though she admits that she felt comfortable with her earlier during lunch just because she realized how Wendy has been consistent in fulfilling Seulgi's requests till the end, she even accompanied her to the doctor despite their feud last Monday. Maybe Wendy wasn't a user as she assumed her to be. Usually, that's her assumptions towards new people considering that she's a model and has connections with other celebrities. She had encountered a lot of them before, so she really raised her wall so high now and even prepared weapons to defend herself. It just so happened that Wendy got the first taste of that. But no user will do this extent for a promise, right? So she begun to think that Wendy must be a really nice person after all, her words last Monday was really painful to hear but it knocked out some sense to her after thinking about it.

Her eyes wandered outside the window. It's raining really hard now, good thing they managed to get back inside their apartment on the right time. The atmosphere is all gloomy and Irene didn't like rain as it gives her nostalgia. Events from the past that she wanted to forget are coming back. She's becoming teary eyed at the memories flashing back at her with every raindrop she caught when...

Riiiing!

She shook her head, and picked her phone from her pocket. It's Seulgi.

"Irene! How's your check-up?"

"Uhm.. where are you? Can't you wait till you get here and ask me that personally?" Irene questioned as she looked at the wall clock. Just a few more hours and her friend will arrive, what's the sudden rush to hear the news.

"Whoah! Could you wear down your shield from me? Are you still with Wendy? Why the sudden coldness?" Seulgi interrogated to which Irene only sighed. Maybe she really got affected by Wendy's sudden disappearance after all or maybe because of the rain, the memories or maybe it's just one of the perks of being pregnant? She can no longer check on her mood swings and she finds herself easily irritated or emotional even on small trivial things.

"No, she's no longer with me. That friend of yours really irritates me."

"Tell me something I don't know, Irene. But hey I thought she already warmed up to you? Did something happen again? What about the check up?"

"Who says she warmed up to me? I still dislike her. Anyways, relax Seul. Everything went well with the check up. Doctor Taeyeon is a family friend and I already ask her to stay quiet with my parents about my pregnancy even before I went to the appointment. At first she was shocked and almost object to my plans but it went well in the end." Irene sat on the sofa as she felt her legs getting tired from standing.

With the silence that Seulgi was giving her, she realized that she was waiting for more details. She sighed. "She basically did some tests to confirm my pregnancy since it's just been 3 weeks. She asked me a lot of questions about my medical history and gave me lots of tests, so far the feedback was well but she scolded me and advised not drink alcohol again as it would really affect the baby negatively. And she told me to come back after 6 weeks to start the prenatal check-ups and to fully check the baby's condition thoroughly."

"Come to think of it, it was only your first time to see an OB after you saw your PT result. You should follow what she said alright?"

"Yes, mom." Irene rolled her eyes but it was very clear how Seulgi sounded so relieved, much like how Wendy expressed earlier after finding out a good news.

"Gosh. Thank goodness, everything's alright. But what if your doctor reveals it to your parents?!"

"I trust Taeyeon. I told her that I will be the one to tell my parents when I'm ready."

"I hope everything would go well in the future once you tell them that..You should prepare what to say if ever they'll look for the father of that baby becaus-"

"Seulgi!! Come on now, let's go!" Irene heard a loud voice calling her friend over the phone.

"Ah that was my colleague. We're gonna board now. Wait for me and we'll plan this out together okay? I'll be back by..uhmm.. around 8 or 9 tonight. Bye Irene!" Seulgi hurriedly end the call even before Irene got to say something back. She sighed and texted Seulgi to take care and have safe a safe travel.

Irene contemplated Seulgi's words. She really have to prepare for that time to come when she'll share her parents the news. Irene can imagine how her parents would cry if they all hear about the pregnancy without a father. She wonders if she could resolve that before she could meet up with them, but how? With that, she absent mindedly texted him.

--

"Wendy. Wendy! Wendy! Wake up!!"

Wendy stirred from her sleep and sat up after she felt someone drastically shaking her body with a very loud voice calling her. Who in the world would visit her now? What time is it? She then realized that she had fallen asleep right after she went back from Irene's unit. Drowsiness constantly visits her, and she finds it as good news since it helps her to stop thinking.

"Hellooooo?! So when will you stop spacing out and actually acknowledge my presence now?" Her companion stick her face so near in front of Wendy's that it made the latter startled and get fully awake.

"What the?! Joy?!"

"Hahaha! What was that face? You looked really funny! I thought your eyes were gonna pop out!" Joy was laughing so hard that she claps her hands together like a seal. She sure is enjoying this.

"Ah! Joy!!! What's with the sudden visit?" Wendy finally awakens and finally face her cousin.

"Unnie~!" She embraced Wendy all of a sudden. "My boyfriend and I had a fight!"

"Erm.. don't you have any other news to talk about? I mean, that's no longer new with the both of you." Wendy sighed like she's already tired from hearing this to which Joy pouted right away.

"You're no fun! At least accompany me to go clubbing for me to forget!"

"Erm.. I'm really tired right now, and wait.. what time is it?" She squinted her eyes to see the clock clearly.

"It's already 10pm! Go get some rest will you?! I promise that you'll forget about the fight of yours in no time." Wendy got back to her sleeping position and ignores Joy. "I bet when you wake up, both of you will get back together again like the usual." She murmured.

"Ahh!! Seriously, Wendy-unnie!!! At least let's go grab something to eat!! I didn't travel here for 2 hours to watch you sleeping!" Joy begun shaking Wendy again like a mad man.

After a few minutes...

"Gosh Joy, you're a big girl now and even got a boyfriend and maybe does something beyond your mother's likeness, and you can't even feed by yourself? Ugh." Wendy fished her coat to accompany her baby cousin outside. She had no choice to agree with her or Joy will plan out something else to bug her the entire night.

"Oh stop it. I'm always fed up by my boyfriend." She smirked dirtily and Wendy just face palmed. "Now, now! Don't be so green minded!"

"Ah, Joy! I can't stand hanging out with you if you're this vulgar."

"You should date again, unnie. You're getting so grumpy now." Joy placed her arm around her cousin, it's always a perfect position for them since Wendy is smaller than her. And it's her way to show how much she missed her. She wanted to stay close.

"Whatever."

They opened the door to head out but Wendy's soul almost left her body at the sight the welcomed them. And with Joy being easily scared, she jumped out and screamed out loud causing the other neighbors open their windows to see what happened.

"What are you doing in front of my door, Irene? Ah, I almost had a heart attack!" Wendy scolded and she bowed apologetically to the neighbors eyeing them and closed their windows after.

"Well, I did not expect you have special ability to know I'm here that you opened the door before I even knock." Irene responded in her usual sarcastic tone.

"OMO~Wait! Are you Irene?! The model?" Joy's terror was immediately replaced with excitement as she finally saw Irene's appearance clearly.

"Uhm.. y-yes?!"

"Wait. You know her?" Wendy looked at her in disbelief.

"Of course! She's the brand ambassador for Prada, Clinique, and Damiani! How could I not know her? She's my idol!" She jumped in excitement and hurriedly went inside the unit again to look for a pen and paper for signature that left the two women outside, speechless.

"Uh.. sorry about that. That was my cousin." Wendy laughed nervously earning a smirk from Irene.

"See? You're the only one who doesn't know me. You're so out of trends."

"Hey! I'm not into fashion just like my cousin here. And.." She then murmured her next words. "I'd rather stay unknown to your existence in the first place."

"What did you say?!" Irene said ready to throw a fit when Joy came back running to her with a pen and paper for a signature.

"Uwaa! Thank you! I'm a huge fan! I've been wanting to become a model someday!" Joy said happily when she got her signature and a photo.

"Really? Thank you."

"What brings you here anyway? Do you know my Wendy unnie?" She then turned to her cousin. "Wow unnie I didn't know you'll be friends with Irene here."

"We're not friends!" They both aggressively denied.

"O-okay! Okay! What's with the negative energy?!"

"Anyways, I'm here because..." Irene looked at Wendy worriedly this time. "Seulgi isn't here yet, she told me she'll come by around 8 to 9."

"Why you'd come here? Shouldn't you call Seulgi instead of standing here asking me where she is? Coz I don't know either." Wendy said nonchalantly, totally shrugging off Irene. Maybe because she haven't gotten her dinner yet that she's caught in a bad mood or maybe because Wendy remembers all of the rude things Irene had said to her previously.

"Hey! Why are you so rude?! She was just asking!" Joy immediately butted in when she saw a tinge of offended expression from her idol.

"What? I was just telling the truth"

Irene scoffed. "I should have known you'll be like this. What was I even expecting from a stranger like you?" She rolled her eyes and ready to go back to her unit when Joy stopped her.

"Hey sorry about my Wendy unnie. She's not like that at all, I'm sure you have reasons why you came to her asking for help right?" She looked at her cousin threateningly and gestured her to apologize which Wendy only ignored. Joy then wonders what made her kind unnie to do such rude action towards her idol. She felt embarrassed for her behaviour. "Ah! I'm really sorry Irene, why don't you call that Seulgi instead?" She resolved to giving advice in order to fix this weird atmosphere they're in.

"I wouldn't really come here if my calls got through. But whatever, I'll just find other ways. I shouldn't have bothered to get a help from your Wendy-unnie." Irene fumed which Wendy got the chills from.

Wendy see through her anger the moment she looked at Irene. She regretted her rudeness right after she saw that tired and hurt look from her. Irene must have done a lot of ways in order to contact Seulgi, and she got no other choice but to ask her for help. Why would Irene even come to her if she found other ways? It's not like they are friends or even her presence is welcome with her. She must be really worried and yet here she was being an asshole. She sighed.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. I was in a bad mood, I haven't eaten dinner yet and my sleep was interrupted by this Joy so--"

"Forget it." Irene didn't bother for her to finish and went back to her unit.

That was Joy's cue in scolding Wendy nonstop. "Go fix this! I'll go get us something to eat!"

"Eh? Can't we just order delivery?"

"No. Fix this! How did you became like this? It's so not you! Go and apologize to her!" She looked at her with serious eyes and Wendy knew she made a mistake. Of course, even if Irene treated her badly before, she has no right to take revenge. It was so childish of her, she knew that. Come to think of it, Irene even gave her a meal just earlier. It's not a proper apology to whatever she did and say to her but at least it was a kind gesture. Regret was eating her alive now when everything comes to light.

"Yeah. I should, uhm... Go now and take care on your way okay?"

Joy left her with that and Wendy was pacing back and forth in front of Irene's door. It took her a few more minutes to knock on her door when she finally found the courage to do so.

After a few knocks, there was no answer and she had expected this, Irene must have known it was her anyways. Why would she open the door for her when she walked away from her?

"Uhm, Irene. Sorry about how I acted, I really regret it. It's just that I uhm..." She ran out of words. There really is no excuse for being rude. "I'm just so sorry. Let me in now so I could help in finding Seulgi, please?"

Wendy got surprised when Irene finally opened the door. She still have that annoyed look on her face, but the tiredness and weary eyes surely became more visible. Poor one, is it even healthy for her to stay up this late? It's already past 10.

"Help me find Seulgi and I'll think about forgiving you." Irene demanded to which Wendy only complied with.

It's okay Wendy, calm down. She's pregnant and you've became rude with her, so do as what she says. Wendy thought to herself.

"So do you know someone from her colleagues?" Wendy started asking as they sat on the living room.

"I've already asked a few of her friends on my phonebook but none of them still know her whereabouts. I mean, they aren't part of their team building but I still tried anyway.."

"I see. Uhm what's the name of the company she's working at?"

"It's xx bank."

"Uhm what branch? Is it this one?" She pointed at the laptop and Irene nodded.

"Okay. I got it now. Go get some sleep and I'll call this. Just leave some of the phone numbers that could possibly be helpful for me to find her as well. If none of them gave us information then I'll call some authorities already to help us out."

"What? Are you sure? Why should I entrust everything to you? And do you think I could just sleep so easily knowing my friend's not here yet?" Irene was really shocked at Wendy's offer. Of course, she invited her in to get some help but she's still on her right mind not to give her all the responsibility.

"You look already tired and I'm sure it'll be bad for you and the baby so..." Wendy looked at her worriedly and Irene felt that Wendy genuinely cared for her at that moment.

"I-uhm.. how should I know if you're not going to rob us or not?" Irene of course blurted out something as her defense to that still.

"Look. I may not have a job right now but I'm not in a state that would do something wrong just to eat. I still have money of my own, so will you stop accussing me?" Wendy then stood up, took her phone and started calling the numbers she collected from researching.

By then, Irene knew that she got her really offended. She didn't really mean to say those words but it became so natural for her to shrug off everything and say nasty words for someone to leave her alone, to stop saying nice things to her since it might be a trap in the end. She sighed and went inside her bedroom.

---

"Ah. Seriously, Seulgi you should borrow your colleague's phone to update your friend over here! She was worn out worried because of you! I thought you are concerned with her health?" Wendy said furiously as Seulgi finally went came back from her out of town company outing. Despite working so hard contacting lots of people, after an hour or so, Wendy heard dangling keys from the front door. At first she got nervous as she thought there was a bad guy out there so she took out a frying pan from the kitchen. Then it dawned to her that it might actually the person that they have been looking for. Before she could open the door though, Seulgi already got in. And that's how Wendy welcomed Seulgi with lots of scolding.

"I'm so sorry! My phone battery run out and I forgot to charge my power bank. I was also drained out that I just slept the whole travel back. I didn't know the rain started pouring heavily on our way that caused our travel to be this delayed. Gosh, I didn't know you guys would be really this worried. I'm so sorry." Seulgi apologized to Wendy and she discovered that her roommate is in an uncomfortable sleeping position on the sofa with a blanket. Following the sorry gaze from her, Wendy sighed deeply and explained.

"I told her to sleep and I thought she went straight to her bed, but after a few minutes she got out and actually slept here. Just look at how uncomfortable she's sleeping. That's all because of you!" Wendy knocked Seulgi's head, still trying to compose herself and not lash out on her. "Ahh.. don't say sorry to me! Go apologize to her."

"Yup, I know. But she's already sleeping and I think she really needed some rest. I'll just explain to her everything by tomorrow." Seulgi said as she gestured Wendy to lower down their voices in order to do not disrupt Irene's rest.

"Well, she'll be sleeping peacefully if she knows you're here now and if she'll lie comfortably on her bed."

"I guess so. I'll make her sleep for a while then and just do what you said."

"Okay, you do that! I'm outta here."

"Wait! I didn't expect you to be here, but hey I owe you a lot!" Seulgi then gave Wendy a huge bear hug and swayed their bodies sideways. Wendy can't help but get this lady forgiven just because she was so happy to be back and she was smiling brightly like she didn't really caused them trouble at all. Yep, Seulgi's really back.

"Well, your friend over there asked me to. Anyways, I'm glad you are back! Finally, I won't be burdened by our promise anymore. And will you please get off me now, I need to eat and get some sleep too."

Joy checked on Wendy 45 minutes ago, she brought the food that she got them but Wendy said that she'll just eat her portion once she get back to her unit. She can't find the appetite to eat knowing that someone might actually be missing. She might vomit whatever she'll put into her stomach since she's so tensed.

"Oh! That reminds me, I have some souvenirs and some food from the trip. I want to give you some since you've been very kind to us and..." Seulgi rummage her baggage for those items and when she found it, she looked back behind her and Wendy was already gone. She tried to catch up to her but Wendy's already inside her unit. "Aw. I must have given her a lot of trouble that she wanted to escape from us right away." She pouted and close their front door.

Equally In Love | Wenrene

"You're dating for almost 3 months already and I just found out about that now. Wow! Such great best friend you are! You've been doing well hiding it so what changed your mind?" Jennie said slightly offended at the secrecy. She learned about the girlfriend thing when Joohyun mistakenly sent 'I miss you, Seungwan' message to her. She was completely astonished and hurriedly pressed the call on her phone to make her best friend explain, reason why they are here now in their favorite cafe. At first Joohyun made up excuses but Jennie was no fool and threatened her that she'll hunt down this 'Seungwan' and she will show her Joohyun's high school photos with wacky faces if they don't meet up soon. Joohyun gave a clear schedule to meet right after.

"It's not like we see each other all the time, Jennie. We're both busy. "

Joohyun and Jennie were childhood best friends. They went to the same school since kinder and they both made a pact to puruse their dreams in becoming popular actresses one day and they did.

"Even so. We've been talking over the phone constantly. Did it ever crossed your mind that it's actually possible to share news there?"

"Whatever. I just want to share it personally to you, my dear best friend. Like now."

"Tch. Excuses. If you didn't accidentaly send me that message this meeting would not even occur. I know you so well." Jennie kept giving her an annoyed look.

"Whatever."

"Don't whatever me, Hyun. I need to know everything. EVERYTHING or I'll give Seungwan the photos I brought with me." Jennie smirked.

"What?! You really thought this through, huh? Ugh. You know, you won't need that since I'm gonna tell you everything anyway."

"So while we're waiting for your girlfriend to come and meet me, would you mind telling me about her first? How did you meet her?"

"I met her while I was filming One Patty. (A/N: Yes I changed Double Patty into One.) Seungwan on the script was my coworker in a fastfood chain." Joohyun responded right away.

"Oh, she's an actress too? How come the name doesn't sound familiar?"

"Uhm.. not a screen actress but theater. She was only active in musical theater during college days though."

"Musical? That must have been difficult for Seungwan to tone down her acting then. How did she got in?"

"It's not like she really wanted to get in, you know. One of the cast got hospitalized and was not able to go to our filming location, so the casting director and director Kim himself decided to just pick a replacement right there and then. They were strict with the release date of the movie and he believes the timeline of editing shouldn't compromise to timeline of filming  so they resolved to that."

"So your girlfriend came to the rescue?"

"Yup, she did. Director Kim called Seungwan, who was living near our filming location. There was no time to hold screening anymore or to call out other actors he knew as they all reside far away. There was no choice but to take a risk with Seungwan at that time."

"That was nice of your girlfriend though."

"I know! She's too nice that sometimes it's painful to watch. I had to protect her from people who always want to take advantage of her."

"Ooh. Heroic Joohyun, how smexy!"

"Shut up! I had to do it."

"Anyways, how did Seungwan captured THE Irene Bae Joohyun's heart? Who did the first move? Seungwan, right?"

Joohyun recalled their story and it brought a smile to her face instantly. Jennie watching her can't help but smile too, she knew right away that Joohyun changed drastically. She really fell in love and this time it was a real thing. It was her first time to see Joohyun looked genuinely happy just thinking about her lover. Jennie got even more curious in Seungwan, she must be so special to make her best friend act like this.

5 months ago...and Joohyun's 2nd month in filming One Patty...

"Everyone, this is my niece Seungwan. She'll be helping us filling in one of the sub character's role. Please let her be under your guidance since we need her to do not fall behind the schedule." The director shouted for everyone to hear but after they got the news, they all dispersed in their own tents leaving Seungwan alone.

Joohyun also wanted to do the same as everyone, not caring about the newbie since she felt not responsible for her. Besides, the newbie seemed like she doesn't need help. However, despite wanting to mind her own business and ignore Seungwan, she found herself unable to do so. Joohyun watched the girl from a distance, she was calm in reading her script like she already knew what she's doing. Curious and amused by Seungwan's confidence, Joohyun miraculously approached her first.

"Hi. Are you fine with your lines? Do you need help?" Joohyun asked professionally.

"Oh." Seungwan reacted shortly. She immediately stood up and bowed to Joohyun. "Thanks for asking and yeah I kinda don't know how this works. I don't know why uncle asked me to do this either since he's very much like a perfectionist when it comes to his work though. But I understood the urgency in his voice when he called me that's why I had no other choice but to agree to his request." Seungwan laughed and Joohyun could feel the oozing friendliness from her which made her instantly feel comfortable. It was a rare case for Joohyun but she did not question herself further.

"I'm sure there's a reason why director... uhmm.. your Uncle trusted you on this. Maybe you have experience similar to acting?" Joohyun surprised herself with her curiosity towards Seungwan.

"I do musicals but that's way back college. It's been years."

"That must be it then. Your work here is not the same as in musicals but it's close considering that you still get to act minus the singing part and exaggerated movements of course. Just keep it natural. Don't be nervous, I bet you'll do well more than any other newbie actors out there."

"Wow thank you. That really lift up my spirits... Ms...." Seungwan offered a hand to meet Joohyun's as a form of introduction and it dawned to Joohyun that Seungwan was not familiar with her despite being a celebrity. She grew even more intrigued with her since it was unexpected to meet someone who doesn't know her.

"Joohyun. Bae Joohyun." She decided to give her birth name instead of her screen name. She shake hands with her and immediately noticed how warm Seungwan's hands were.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful lady, Ms. Joohyun. A pleasure to meet you." Seungwan said while smiling and that's when Joohyun felt something changed deep within. She smiled back.

"What the heck! That was so greasy! Did she just flirt with you? Did she kissed your hand after she said those words? I wouldn't be surprised if she really did." Jennie commented making Joohyun laugh miserably.

"Of course she didn't. Anyways that was nothing, Jennie. You just wait and meet her so you could tell that she's naturally greasy. That's one of the reason I can't let her be alone with anyone though, she's a natural flirt." Joohyun said releasing a huff.

"Jealous Hyun spotted. Pang!" Jennie fired a finger gun. "You sure that Seungwan's not a player?"

"No. I mean, she's just like that. It's part of her personality that I can't change."

"Sounds like a headache to me though. So now tell me how did she warmed your stone-cold heart?" Jennie joked earning an immediate glare from Joohyun.

"CUT!" Director Kim shouted. Everyone was pushed to their limits as they try to catch up with their tight schedule and that makes it even harder for Seungwan to act naturally. The girl was really not good in working under pressure reason why she's having a hard time to express the emotions her character needed.

"How many times do we need to repeat that scene? Come on Seungwan, you're better than this! At least recall your skills when you were in college!" The director called out for the nth time and he finally got frustrated and walked out of the scene to calm himself.

"It seems like director Kim got really mad. Why did he get a person without exposure to real acting anyways? It's his fault." The producer 1 said.

"I don't see anything special with that Seungwan at all for her to be part of the cast." The producer 2 said.

Those and a lot more comments circulated in their filming location which is inevitable for all the cast including Seungwan not to hear. Seungwan felt bad about it so she excused herself to contemplate on her acting in her tent. Joohyun who observed her from afar followed her.

"You shouldn't beat yourself because the director got mad, you know? It's not your fault." Joohyun said as she saw Seungwan sulking in the corner while still holding her script.

"It is my fault. I should have not agreed to this in the first place. I just wanted to help though." Seungwan looked up to meet Joohyun's eyes. She was not crying but Joohyun could feel the sadness she was feeling at that time.

"You were made to agree to that. The director called you because he knew you wouldn't reject him. It's his fault."

"And how could you say that? You don't even know me." Seungwan asked and made her second statement almost inaudible but Joohyun was too focused on her to not hear it.

"It's true I don't know you but I just could tell. I can feel you're genuinely good inside that's why you're here." Joohyun approached Seungwan and tapped her shoulder which made the latter looked like she was moved from those words. "And since you are here, there's no going back now. I still hold onto the director's decision of picking you not because he had no choice but because he sees potential in you, Ms. Musical." She smiled and that made Seungwan do the same.

Joohyun, who's known to be the independent and hardworking actress when rehearsing her own lines, became that someone who helped her co-artist first to rehearse her own. It was a rare occasion but Joohyun was too focused on Seungwan's acting that she didn't bother to question herself further again.

After they resume filming the next day and took Seungwan's scene, the director highly praised her for an excellent work and because of that the whole crew and artists were clapping for her. The negative comments before turned to positive. Joohyun on the other hand felt proud and wore that smug look on her face when her manager tapped her on the back and looked at her as if she knew that Joohyun has something to do with Seungwan's improvement.

After Seungwan, it was already Joohyun's part to take so they were not able to celebrate the outcome of their combined effort together. Seungwan watched her from a distance and Joohyun was aware of it which motivates her to do well. To impress someone was something Joohyun didn't bother to do, but it was a rare occasion to have someone she likes to watch her act so.... wait... what? "like?"

"Okay we're gonna start now! Focus!" The director shouted that made Joohyun's questions left unanswered.

"She's great isn't she?" Seungwan heard someone asked from her side. She didn't realize she already got some company. She was too drawn to how Joohyun was acting, 'great' is somewhat like an understatement for that.

"Uhm.. yeah.. it's my first time to actually witness actions on set."

"Anyways, I approached you to say congratulations on the job well done earlier. You have potential." She winked and then smiled at Seungwan. "I guess you're not familiar with showbiz. I'm Sana. Sana Minatozaki."

Seungwan almost popped her eyes out at the realization of this new acquaintance. The person in front of her was Sana Minatozaki, the female protagonist of a popular drama her mom was so crazy talking about. Sure she has no likings for any kdrama but there's no way she wouldn't know how famous that name was. She have heard that name a lot of times from her mother and maybe took a glimpse of some episode with her. She may not be familiar with her face, but she knows the name.

"Nice to meet you, Sana. I'm Seungwan." She smiled back, amazed to be beside a popular celebrity. "Wow! My mom's a huge fan of your drama! Can I get a sign so I could gift it to her?"

Sana chuckled at the excitement Seungwan's voice emits. "Of course! Let's take a selfie for your mom too." She offered which made Seungwan even more excited.

"That's so generous of you. I'll take that offer!"

Seungwan immediately took out her phone and they position themselves shoulder to shoulder, preparing for the selfie. Sana latched on to Seungwan which made the latter surprised, confused by the sudden closeness as she was only expecting to do some v-sign or heart fingers together or Sana putting one arm on her shoulder as the closest contact. She did not expect Sana's arms to snake around her waist and her head resting on her shoulder. No, she wasn't expecting this.

"Go on! Take it." Sana smiled like nothing's weird with their position so Seungwan proceed the selfie with her stretched hand.

"T-thanks Sana, I'm sure my mom would love it." Seungwan said while she tries to escape from Sana's tight grip on her waist.

"I hope I made you happier though."

"W-what?!" Seungwan gasped. Thankfully she saw Joohyun approaching them, however she looked furious and ready to battle a great war. She thought whether she'll actually be saved if she'll ask for her help or not but...

"JOOHYUN!" Seungwan called out anyway. It was so loud that made Joohyun paced up from walking to running towards them and it made Sana moved back in fear.

"What was that cry for?" Sana asked to Seungwan while pouting.

"Not everyone is immune to your flirting, Sana. Back off!" Joohyun said annoyed, her arms crossed above her chest.

Seungwan on the other hand apologized to Sana and she could only hope that it didn't hurt her feelings for wanting to get away from her. "S-sorry. I just needed to say something to Joohyun so I called out loud. We'll be going now! Thanks for the selfie!" She lied and hurriedly took Joohyun out of Sana's sight.

"How come you want to take a photo with Sana and not with me?!" Joohyun blurted out the moment they reached her tent. Seungwan at first, thought that she was leading the way after they escaped from Sana but Joohyun dragged her as if in a hurry to punish her of doing something unforgivable.

"I-uhm.. mom's a huge fan of her drama so I asked for a signatu--" She stopped as she remembered something. "Wait! Her signature!!!" Out of initial reaction, Seungwan was about to dash out of the tent and ask for her original request from Sana but was swiftly stopped by Joohyun.

"You literally called out for help to me like a baby and you'll go back to her like that?! Are you stupid?!" Joohyun was on fire.

"Oh, sorry. You're right, I shouldn't go there! But hey I'm not stupid!!" Seungwan got slightly annoyed at the comment, nobody has ever called her that. She's straight A's back in school all the way for a reason and stupidity surely isn't that.

"Yes you are! I hate you!"

"Wait, what?! Now you hate me. Why are you so worked up?" Seungwan was really confused. "Is it because of the picture? I told you my mom was a fan!" She answered yet again as if trying to prove something, but against what? Why is Joohyun so upset? They were okay earlier.

"It's not just that! You're obviously letting her touch you! I saw it!!" Joohyun was already shaking in anger and Seungwan feels fear and concern.

"No, I did not!"

"Yes, you did!"

"Did not!"

"You did!"

"You weren't even there!"

"So I was right?"

"What?!! No! I didn't say you were!"

"You stopped denying it!"

Seungwan felt like crying. This is going to be endless non sense argument now that the other is obviously not listening to her. Why does she have to defend herself anyway, she could just get away from her and not see her. They've just known each other shortly anyway. So why?

Seungwan sighed deeply to calm herself. "Okay, so what do you want me to do? Let's stop fighting, please?" She raised her flag.

Joohyun pouted and turned her back away from Seungwan. She also tries to calm herself . Why is she so worked up about it anyway? Seungwan's question was sinking in, and her heart's loudness finally heard.

Seungwan felt bad on the other hand, Joohyun's accusations to her were all wrong but somehow she felt responsible for making her like this. Wanting to fix whatever between them now, she listened to her instinct and embraced Joohyun. Like an electricity overflowed, Joohyun gasped at the sensation.

The warmth from Joohyun's heart let her turn around and succumb to the comforts of Seungwan's embrace. Her frustrations, jealousy and bad mood in general went all away instantly.

Seungwan smiled as she felt Joohyun melted in her embrace. It's though as if their bodies perfectly fit each other. It felt so nice.

"Can we stay like this?" Joohyun muffled. It was a question that reveals her heart's true desire and Seungwan miraculously read what it meant.

"I'd love too."

"I love you too." Joohyun shyly confessed trying to dig her face to Seungwan's neck.

Seungwan chuckled. "I think you heard me wrong." She then earned a hit to her chest.

"This is pretty much fast-paced and early for me to say those words though. It's not like I was the one who got love at first sight."

"Yah!"

"It's the truth though. It's fast-paced, you don't even know if I have a girlfriend or not."

That made Joohyun jumped out from their intimacy and looked at her wide-eyed. "Y-you do?!"

And that's when Seungwan started laughing crazily, Joohyun's reaction was priceless.

"I don't have one unless you agree to be one." She earned a pinch on her side. "Ah! What was that for?!"

"Seriously, don't play around."

"I'm not."

"I was the one who made the first move but it's you asking me out?"

"Excuse you, it was your jealousy who made the first move." Seungwan giggled.

"Yah!"

"So, Joohyun let's give it a try?"

"I date to marry not just to try."

Seungwan grinned like a fool, Joohyun was flushed red and acting like a baby. "Anything for you, bae."

"Pwahahahaha!"Jennie laughed crazily once she heard Joohyun's story. She found it funny because she knew how much of a diva Joohyun was. It was always Joohyun being chased and confessed to and not the other way around. And 'date to marry'?, Joohyun never settled for one releationship in a span of a year. This was something new for her.

"Stop at laughing, will you? This is one of the reasons why I hid this from you." Irene said embarrassed. She had expected this reaction from her.

"Sorry! It's just so unbelievable that you did that. I mean, wow! Just wow! You started approaching her like a cool sunbae but you have dark plans." Jennie wiped the tears that formed at the corner of her eyes because of laughing too much.

"It's not like I planned everything in the first place, you know. Stop accusing me."

"You never confessed nor fell so easily like that. You never show jealousy either as you strongly believe that it's a form of weakness and you don't want to show that to your previous lovers for them to celebrate. What happened to that belief? You went all out because of this Seungwan."

"Whatever. It's seriously one of my problems now. I feel like I've changed because of her. I want to return to my old self! Help me Jennie!" Joohyun aggressively clasped Jennie's hands together for some help and it made the latter realize how deep her friend fell this time. So she took this seriously.

"It's not like you can return to your old self that easily now, you know. But there's a way to escape it."

"Really? Then what is it? I'll do anything."

"Break up with her."

Joohyun looked at her like she lost her mind. "What are you saying? No! Why would I do that? I won't because I can't."

"Exactly my point, Joohyun. You can't, so just deal with it. Love isn't something you can control to feed your ego. You need to learn how to consider your partner's feelings as well. It's not always about you."

"Wow. Coming from Kim Jennie."

"I've already changed because of Jisoo, Joohyun." She laughed. "Just accept it that you can no longer return to your old self. Trust me, it's for the better. Besides, it's not like Seungwan was the one who forced you to be jealous or confess or make a move, it was all you. Instead of minding a problem like that, why don't you put all that energy in taking care of Seungwan or protect her from admirers coz she seems like a nice catch considering how you fell that easily."

Joohyun sighed. "I'm going crazy about her."

"I know. I can tell. You just can't stop your feelings. Just go with it and enjoy it. What stopping you anyway?"

Joohyun sighed yet again. "I feel like I'm falling for her way too deep everyday. I want so see her always. I want to feel her. I can't stop thinking about her! I think I'm going crazy!! Is this normal, Jennie?"

After hearing her question, Jennie seriously wanted to laugh out loud. She has not seen Joohyun so problematic over some case of love. She wanted to tease her for it but she knew it'll be rude as Joohyun was desperately seeking for an advice. She's seemed truly troubled.

"It's normal to feel that way to the one you love. You really tend to feel the extremes." Jennie finally said.

"But we're only 3 months old together. I mean you know... is it really okay to feel this way?"

"That's basically the honeymoon stage of your relationship. It happens, wait till you get out that stage and let's see if you feel the same. But why are you asking as if it's your first ever relationship?" Jennie looked at her puzzled. Joohyun is already 29 years old and had been into several relationships before, reason why Jennie didn't expect her friend to be this oblivious.

"But I've never felt something like this to anyone before. It's just Seungwan." Joohyun confessed.

"PWAHAHAHAHA!"

And there Jennie can't hold her laughter anymore especially with this kind of honest Joohyun who's feeding her entertainment.

"YAH!!!' Joohyun shouted embarrassed, she was about to retaliate when the love of her life entered the cafe. "Seungwan, here!" She waved her hand immediately for her lover to see them. Jennie on the other hand composed herself and refrained from laughing.

"Hey babe." Seungwan greeted happily her girlfriend and kissed her cheeks. An action that made Jennie amazed because she knew Joohyun never liked PDA before but there was no violent reaction from her.

Jennie looked at her bestfriend and she knew her presence was already forgotten all because of Seungwan.

"Ahem." She cleared her throat gaining attention from Seungwan.

"Oh! Jennie! Hi! It's nice to finally meet you in person." She offered handshake which Jennie gladly took.

"Hello. I'm surprised you already know me." Jennie responded considering the story of this girl being clueless in showbiz. She must have had her research beforehand .

"Of course, Joohyun said great things about you."

"Well that's expected. Everything's great about me." She joked and when she saw Joohyun rolling her eyes, she decided to tease her and give her something to be nervous about. "Joohyun here said a lot of things about you too."

Joohyun looked at her with intent to choke her, giving her clear signs to shut up or die.

"Really? What did she told you? I hope they are something nice." Seungwan smiled nervously.

"Now why don't you sit down first and maybe we could talk about it." Jennie giggled like an evil witch when she noticed the intensifying and threatening look her bestfriend's giving her.

Seungwan obeyed and sat beside Joohyun. Since then, Joohyun ignored everything and started clinging to her girlfriend's left arm.

Jennie smiled to herself after witnessing that.

"Both of you looked good together." She commented making Joohyun blushed.

"Thank you. It's because my girlfriend's a real beauty. She always looked good to anyone she's with." Seungwan chuckled and Jennie mentally checked 'great personality' on her QA/QC requirements. Jennie honestly thought that Seungwan was really beautiful herself, such a humble being.

"But I only like to be with you. Not anyone else." Joohyun responded while eyes on Seungwan. She stressed out that fact to make her feelings clear.

After witnessing this, Jennie believed Joohyun's confession of being ignorant to her new feelings were real because it was indeed NEW. She had never seen Joohyun this expressive towards someone before despite the amount of people she has dated.

Jennie spent the whole time observing the two while they talk and eat their meal. She examined carefully Seungwan's words and actions towards Joohyun. She mentally listed:

1. Seungwan's very shy in receiving multiple skinships from her girlfriend but didn't dare to move away from her.

2. The loving gaze from Joohyun was immense and Jennie thought that anyone would feel uncomfortable, but Seungwan didn't complain. In fact whenever she catches Joohyun's gaze she would always smile and equally look at her like she meant the world to her.

3. Despite a lot of topics were talked about between the three of them, Seungwan never forget to give compliments to Joohyun, she always find ways to make her feel loved and special.

Jennie summarized it that Joohyun is treated well and is in good hands. She could tell both of them are equally in love to each other and that's already enough to approve Seungwan for her bestfriend.

"So, Seungwan."

"Yeah?" Seungwan looked at her intently.

"When will be the marriage?"

Joohyun almost choked on her drink. "W-why are you asking that? I told you, we're only 3 months old together."

Seungwan wiping and cleaning  the water that Joohyun's spat.

"What?! Don't you think it's where everything would go anyway? Besides, you're already 29 Joohyun and Seungwan's 26. Wait, don't tell me you don't see your future with Seungwan?" Jennie faked gasping.

"What are you talking about!" Joohyun grew red and Seungwan was only laughing heartily at her reaction. "Of course I want to be with her forever, but we're still on our 3rd month. We wanted to just enjoy things, right?" She then turned at Seungwan. Contrary to what she had said, Joohyun secretly wanted to know her girlfriend's response to that as well.

"Yeah. She's right, Jennie. But don't worry, my parents like Joohyun already so we're one step closer to marriage right?" She laughed and Joohyun was beginning to get emotional.

"R-really?" Joohyun asked softly.

"Of course. She's been a fan of yours before we even met. I didn't know that of course, I mean... I didn't know you were THE Irene Bae back then."

"What? You mean, you guys got together without knowing who Joohyun was back then?" Jennie this time was really shocked.

"Yeah. I did not know. I just discovered about it when I asked my mom to watch with me our movie and she literally dropped the pop corn when Joohyun appeared on screen. I was surprised by then. I didn't knew I was dating a popular actress Irene."

"There's no fun in telling you sooner." Joohyun giggled.

"Wow! You're insane. You should open your eyes around your environment too, not just your ears Seungwan. Is being a math teacher of high school students really that bad?" Jennie commented.

Seungwan chuckled. "Not really. Maybe it's because I really am not interested with watching TV or dramas in particular that's why."

She tried to explain but both her companion look at her in disbelief.

Seungwan cleared her throat. "Anyways, going back to your first question, I don't know when will be the marriage yet."

"Yah! You don't have to answer her seriously you know. She's just teasing us." Joohyun said.

"Why? When we both dated I agreed to marry you right? You told me that you date not to try but to marry and I agreed to that, so I'll do so in the future with you."

"Aaw. You remembered. Seungwan, I love you!" Joohyun hugged her girlfriend tightly and kissed her non stop at the revelation.

Meanwhile...

"What is this? A proposal? Girls, the question was meant as a joke but hey I'm glad it turned out well."

One Thing Right Chapter 5 | Wenrene

One Thing Right

Chapter 5

"A Calming Presence"

The ride back to their apartment was yet again in pure silence. Wendy had already expected this but the loud voice inside her head didn't make her get comfortable with it. Just earlier, Irene introduced her to the doctor as her girlfriend and upon hearing that she almost lose her life from choking. She knew well enough that Irene was crazy, fierce, moody and incredibly hot headed, but she never read Irene to be a joker as well. A bad one.

Wendy side glanced at the driver, whose eyes fixated in front, to Wendy's observation, she's too calm after blurting out a false information like that. Seriously, Irene was a model, she's a public figure. Wendy believed that doctors and other profession related to medicine field were very trustworthy because they held and kept the most confidential information about one's health. One must trust a person that holds your second chances in life, right? She wonders how doctors keep information about  celebrity though and that idea bothers Wendy a lot.

Wendy sighed. Why was she even worried about this woman, anyway? It's her own life for god sake, but as much as she wanted not to concern herself to Irene's love life, Wendy was already too involved with the sudden role playing she had to do.

"That's already the third one. Have you noticed how you becoming problematic is distracting me from driving? If ever we got in an accident, it's your fault." Irene said threateningly, eyes still fixated on the road.

Wendy then realized that she must have sighed too loudly and several times without her noticing. She's too preoccupied with her thoughts but Irene was on time to speak and stop her from banging her head on the windshield.

"You shouldn't joke about accidents." Wendy stated a bit withdrawn, her energy was too low from being far used in overthinking. "Knock on wood." She managed to say and do so.

"Is it because I introduced you as my girlfriend to the doctor that you're sulking now?" Irene asked finally glancing at Wendy who sighed yet again. "Spill, Wendy."

"Look, could you stop by a bit and put on hazard? I just feel like I can no longer wait to ask and discuss to you about this matter, since you have already mentioned it." Wendy exploded with hand gestures, enough for Irene to get surprised at the sudden outburst and actually stopped on the lay-by.

"Good. Thanks." Wendy said when the other girl obeyed her without any protests. If anything, that's almost like a miracle.

"Why are you so bothered about it. It's just one time thing anyway, a pretend girlfriend to the doctor Taeyeon. It'll be your first and last accompanying me to her anyway, so what's the big deal?" Irene said confidently, making light of the situation and Wendy snapped right away.

"What's the big deal? Come on Irene, I know how bad you are at making decisions and stuff but I didn't know you're this worse." Wendy started and before Irene could retaliate, she already added a few words. "You're a celebrity, and you're ruining your image by spilling some non sense. I'm your girlfriend? That's bullshit and let's say that the doctor bought your shit, don't you think that's a scoop right there? I mean, Irene dating a girl?! What would your fans say to you if they found out?"

Instead of getting pissed off from Wendy's words like the usual, Irene can't believe but found herself amused by the blonde's exaggerating facial and body expressions while she said those words without breathing in between. 'Why is she so worked up with this?' She thought.

"Wendy, could you please calm down and get yourself together?" Irene said nonchalantly, still watching Wendy. "Doctor Taeyeon is someone we-, I could trust. Believe me, she won't spill anything about me. Our family have known that girl for a long time now."

"W-what?" Wendy asked right away but Irene already knew what the other was thinking, she wasn't done talking anyway.

"Shut your mouth and listen to me first, will you?" Irene put a finger on Wendy's mouth. The moment she earned a nod from the other, she started again. "She's known to our family because first of all she's a friend of mine. So I definitely know she won't say anything, and besides aren't patients' information confidential whatever profession they are in? Seriously, you should know that by now." Irene ended as she rested her back on her seat. She crossed her arms, body facing Wendy as if waiting for the other's response.

After hearing Irene's words, unexpectedly, Wendy finally calmed down. She faced forward, ignoring Irene's eyes, and slumped on her seat. Why did she even get concerned with this girl in the first place? Wendy can't find an answer.

"I was just worried if things get out of hand. That's way too problematic." Wendy side glanced the still staring Irene. "Besides, if you're into role playing, you could have told me beforehand. You know... uh... so I won't get shocked." She stammered and face heating up out of embarrassment.

"Well, I needed you to stay with me inside the room. I was out of excuse and just told doctor Taeyeon that you're my girlfriend so you could have a reason to stay." Irene this time was the one flushing red.

Wendy suddenly remembered what was her sole purpose today, it was to accompany Irene to the doctor because as Seulgi stated over the phone, Irene was afraid to come alone. The blonde finally understood why Irene grasped tightly on her, and how panic was easily read on Irene's face the moment she wanted to excuse herself out of the doctor's room earlier. Irene could be fierce and strong on the outside, but there really was still some things that she fears and one of them was a doctor. Wendy suddenly got curious what other else that could made the woman falter. She smiled at the thought but was immediately washed away after Irene blurted out something.

"Haven't you dated any girls before?"

"W-what?! Why are you asking that?" Wendy jolted up from her seat, palms sweating.

"Well, it feels like you have problems with girls getting girlfriends. Saying it'll be a scoop as I'm a public figure." Irene asked, still straight faced. But even so, she looked at Wendy with eyes full of curiousity.

"W-well, you know what I mean. We are in South Korea, and that kind of thing isn't that welcomed yet. The public would end up scrutinizing you and judge you maliciously because of that." Wendy expresses her worries of the situation which Irene only hums.

"You still didn't answer my question though." Irene responded but decided to drop it as she observed Wendy's discomfort on such topic and start driving again.

When they arrived at their apartment building, Wendy accompanied Irene in front of her door. She fetch her, it's only polite to drop her also. Anyway, the day they spent together and the conversations in between were good signs for Wendy that they are getting closer to being friends. But Wendy did not want to assume because she's too sure that Irene wouldn't want anything to do with her after this day. Come to think of it, this was the last day of Seulgi's favor of checking on Irene, since she'll be back from her trip by tonight.

"Well then, I'm glad that everything's fine with you and the baby. I hope you'll start taking care of yourself and that baby like what the doctor says." Wendy said the moment they arrived on Irene's main door, she said it as a farewell while the other was busy unlocking her door with her keys.

Wendy wasn't really expecting any response from her, so when the door opened, she turned away and walked to her own unit. But to her surprise, Irene called out to her.

"Wendy, come inside. Let me at least give you something to say thanks for accompanying me to the doctor. It's gonna be lunch soon, anyway." Irene invited her and Wendy couldn't believe her ears. Was that really Irene inviting her inside her unit? The Irene that almost strangled her by the neck? The Irene that spitted out daggers with every word she says? The Irene that treats her like a nobody, just a mere stranger?

"Uh, are you sure? 'Coz I'll be fine with you just saying the word 'thanks', though. No need for anything else if it's against your will. I mean-"

"I insist, Wendy. Do I look uncertain?" Irene stopped Wendy right away with her non sense.

"Oh, okay." Wendy finally gave in and went inside Irene's unit.

"Just sit comfortably on the couch, I'll go prepare something for us in the kitchen." Irene said as she removed her coat, she then opened the TV and settle the remote near the blonde's reach for her to pick whatever channel she likes. She went straight to the kitchen after she gained a nod from Wendy.

While Irene was busy, Wendy can't help but look around the unit. It's already her third time here, and the discomfort still didn't vanish. Well, this might be her third and last unless it will be Seulgi to invite her the nexts. However, Wendy thought that it would be better to stay away from Seulgi once she comes back. She didn't want yet another favor from Seulgi to come her way, who knew what that girl was thinking, taking advantage of their still young friendship. Wendy wasn't even sure if they were now friends though.

Suddenly, her phone rang that startled her and immediately ended her train of thoughts. Wendy took out her phone from her pant's side pocket, her brows furrowed once she sees the caller ID. Still, she accepted the call.

"Yes, mom?"

"Wendy, have you decided already? About taking over our business there in South Korea?" Mrs. Son clearly said over the phone still pressing Wendy about their unfinished discussion from a week ago.

"Mom, I'm taking a break now from working. I just need some space, a fresh air to breathe." Wendy tried to explain herself but the moment her mother spoke, she knew it's impossibe for her to understand.

"Wendy, you're not getting any younger. You should take responsibilities and get a grip of your life. If you can't be near your sister's achievement when she reached that age of yours, then at least do your family a favor and manage our business in South Korea. It would help me and your father a lot."

Wendy could feel the nerves in her head twicthing out of anger. Why do her parents always compare her to her perfect sister? She get it already when they were still a child, that the star of the family was always and non other than her big sister. Why can't they understand that even if they were sisters, they still were both different people? The only thing she wanted the same as her sister before was to study abroad when they were younger but after then their parents have assumed already that Wendy wanted to take every steps of her sister made in her life. All her life Wendy was living under the shadow of her perfect sister, and she have done everything in her abilities to make their parents proud of her. It's just that everything Wendy achieve was already one step behind her sister's and that's when she realized that she'll end up losing her sanity trying to prove herself's worth to their family all the time. That's when she first broke their hearts by coming over to South Korea, leaving all of them in Canada. The second was declining her parent's friend to get a high position in a large architectural firm in South Korea, reasoning that Wendy wanted to gain a position on her own. And the disappointments came to them immensely after, that's why they were now pressing Wendy to just take over their family business instead.

Wendy sighed, massaging her temples. "I am taking a grip of my life, mom. And that's what I'm doing now. You cannot always push me to do something that I don't want."

"Wendy, we're only thinking of your future. You have to listen to us, for once."

"Mom, why won't you be the one to listen to me for once?" Wendy said softly, she felt like crying. She had never felt her parents supporting her for whatever life choices she made, for once Wendy wants to feel how her sister feels when getting huge approval and support from their parents. "I'm hanging up now. I'll talk to you later." She hangs up and threw her phone on the other side of the sofa.

Wendy feels it again. The anxiety taking over her, the train of negative thoughts coming over. She traced her collar, acting as if it's suffocating her when it's nowhere near. She wanted to escape the feeling once again, and lately she had found comfort in her sleep. Yes, she wanted to just sleep. Longer than she could, as long as it will prevent her from thinking too much. From feeling too much.

"Lunch is ready. Come over here in the dining area!" When Wendy was about to close her eyes, she heard Irene calling out, enough to ignore the devils inside her brain. Wendy came back to reality.

When Wendy went to the dining area, everything was already set. The foods were served and Irene was over there waiting for her to start eating.

Wendy occupied the seat in front of Irene and so both started eating. The lunch set off in silence, just them chewing her food and occassionally sipping their soup. Wendy's head was empty, she was eating like a robot, and her eyes reflected the emptiness she's feeling. Irene was able to observe her though, the instant change of Wendy's demeanor made her curious.

"Are you okay?" Irene asked carefully as if not wanting to shutter anything fragile. She continued eating while waiting for the other's response.

"Yeah. Sorry 'bout that. Uh.. Maybe just a little tired." Wendy said, sleepiness coming back again.

"I could tell. Why don't you sleep here for a while after we eat?" Irene once again offered which made Wendy started wondering why the sudden change of heart. The questioning look must have been obvious which earned a laughter from the other. "I could tell how you're doubting me again with my offer." Irene added.

Wendy cleared her throat, her face heated up a bit for being caught. "S-sorry. I'm just surprised."

"Surprised at what? Me being kind to you all of  sudden?" Irene scoffed, then settled her spoon down on the table. "Don't let your guard down though, I would have poisoned you by now you know. You shouldn't really accept someone's offer if you're doubting their motives." Irene shrugged as if being doubted was nothing new but Wendy felt a bit guilty about that.

"Yeah, sorry about that. But I wouldn't really mind if there's poison in the food." Wendy said, trailing off a bit on her last statement.

"Pardon?" Irene was taken aback. She knew something was up to this blonde's head.

"Nah, nothing. What time is Seulgi coming home?" Wendy changed the topic but Irene could already sense that.

"By evening, I guess."

"I see. Do you mind me asking when you guys became friends? You two seemed really close."

"Since college. She's fond of you though, she kept talking about you."

"Really? Sounds like her."

"Do you like her?"

"W-what?" Wendy felt like she's going deaf or was it Irene becoming aggressive with her questions?

"I asked if you like her? Like more than friends?"

"Uhm. No. I mean she's really kind and caring person, so she's very likeable. But don't get me wrong, I only see her as a friend. Nothing more than that." Wendy explained herself, not really sure why she have to.

"Good, 'coz I don't like you for her." Irene said which made Wendy winced a bit.

"That's not for you to decide though." Wendy retaliated, although she meant nothing but to save her dying dignity in front of Irene.

"I know, there's nothing much we could do if someone's falling for someone. It's not like it's their choice either, it just happens." Irene shrugged and this time it was Wendy's turn to get surprised at Irene's thoughts.

"Oh. Now we're talking about... falling for someone."

"I'm not telling that Seulgi's in love with you or anything alright? Don't get the wrong idea."

"I know and I wouldn't dare that." Wendy was sure that Irene was just speaking to get rid of the silence. Anything so she wondered out loud, "Maybe it's you and your choice to fall in love with the father of the baby?"

Irene eyes widened. Wendy watched how the girl's eyes shown shock, sadness into anger. Irene suddenly looked at her fiercely, shooting daggers. When Wendy thought Irene was becoming nice to her then she's yet again proven wrong. She judged way too early, or maybe it was her fault after all, for blurting out something sensitive.

"I'm sorry." Wendy apologized right away and she could see Irene softened a bit.

"It's okay. Are you done eating? Why don't you rest in the living room for a while." Irene said as she stood up and started cleaning the table.

"No. I'll go wash the dishes since you've already cooked for us."

"Like I said, it's my thanks for accompanying me to the doctor so don't feel obligated to do anything here."

"B-but."

"No buts."

"Then I shall take my leave then, I don't want to bother you any longer."

Irene sighed loudly. "I told you, go rest in the living room. Wait for me there." She said demandingly as if Wendy has no other choice.

"O-okay."

Irene knew that she could get rid of Wendy and let her go home to her own unit anytime, as much as she wanted to deny it, she somehow find Wendy's presence around her as calming. Reason why she suddenly became curious and talkative towards her, she kinda want to prolong her presence around her more. That aside her last outburst on the sensitive topic, though. Because of that, a punishment of making her stay would definitely work on Wendy, and looking at her right now, she's already proven correct. This is her way of killing 2 birds with one stone.
